Work has focused around fixing the entrance to our Worship Center. We were to have huge footings near the entrance, but they have been enlarged somewhat to accommodate the new columns that will be added to the entrance. I don't know if you can get an idea of the size of the footings from the enclosed pictures, they the footings are really, really big. A lot of concrete will be going into the ground--containing a lot of steel--to provide a firm foundation for the new Hank & Merle Scott Commons.
From one angle it appears that we're digging a moat around the Worship Center.
Work is on hold in the new office space while we wait for the mechanical elements (furnace/air conditioner units) to arrive. They were ordered soon after we voted to proceed but have been held up in shipping, for some reason. Early on we were concerned about the carpet being a problem since there had been so much flooding back east. The carpet doesn't appear to be a problem. And I know some of you might say that if the staff was really tough, we'd do without heat or air. We could, but we're thinking about you coming to visit us in our offices and don't want you to be uncomfortable. Oh, the burden of a servant's heart.
