School has started and the fall schedule is about to begin. I am ready. It will be great to have the children around again on Wednesday nights. May God bless all the teachers and administration laborers. May it be a great school year. I love the fall and football!
We have had a significant change in our world recently. Our once empty nest has had a return chick. Dusty has decided not to go back to Hardin-Simmons. A ministry opportunity opened at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church in Lubbock to be the University Worship Leader. He decided to take it. This means he will be attending South Plains College this year. We are excited about it because Indiana is a great church and the music program at SPC is wonderful.
This past week I preached on one of my favorite stories in the Bible. It is found in Mark 2 and is about the four men who carried another man to Jesus. It required them to rip a hole in the roof of the house to lower the man down before Jesus. The question that Leighton Ford asks in reference to the story is the most profound. The question is "who paid for the roof." It seems reasonable that someone had to pay for the hole in the roof after the man was healed. The bottom line is that no one come to Jesus unless someone pays for the roof. The truth is, it is hard work and costly. Consider, someone had to pay for the roof for you to journey the road to Christ. Now, we are called on to do the same for others. It is my hope that as we continue to reach into 414 that our hearts will be moved to "PAY" whatever it costs for another soul.
